So when I was in this hyphy noize band DRONI MITCHELL, our drummer lived in a punk house in Northeast Portland. There was this weird dude who lived in the garage. He was always super friendly, but definately on his own trip. Dude would wear that freddy sweater and he had real cozy set up out there. Anyways, This cat has a fantastic band called The Boo Jays. I sat down with him to get right down to the real nitty gritty.

So its been a band that whole time or a solo project?

The idea was that it would be the moniker for any songs I felt like writing and recording myself, and that whenever borrowing meat to provide for my puddy tat didn’t suffice financially, it would be a live band comprised of my friends.

Who would you say your influences are? I’m not talking about like, Nirvana or musicians, but in general, which humans inspire you?

A teaspoon of Christopher Hitchens blended into a cocktail of David Lynch, Anna Freud, and Freddy Krueger.

Would you say your art/music is more focused on concept or technique?
-
-
-
Concept and mood, for sure. It makes me uncomfortable to play anything perfectly, and I haven’t really had to deal with that problem very often.

I just got together a new live band after a six month hibernation stint and am sitting on a record’s worth of stuff. Hopefully I can find some people to help put this stuff out soon. I put the last 7” out by myself and I don’t ever want to have to do that again.
